Going out to meet Jesus is a sign of a conquered people ushering in a conquering king Going out to meet Jesus constitutes an ancient Triumphal Entry, and reflects their desire to make him their new king

“Hosanna” literally means “save us now” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” was reinterpreted to mean “blessed is the Messiah who comes in the name of the Lord” “Blessed is the King of Israel” was reinterpreted to mean, “blessed is the King of Israel on his way to Conquest”
