Bacteria is the primary analyte, but the laboratory provides an array of analytical offerings. This list reflects standard rates; the prices will likely be offered to the towns at a discounted price, pending administrative approval. *It is recommended or required that these parameters be analyzed in the field using test kits. If the towns feel it is beneficial, the County may be able to purchase the kits in bulk at a discounted rate and distribute them accordingly.

Environmental Field Testing Equipment pH, Salinity, Conductivity, Temperature
YSI Professional Series Pro1030 Cost: $1,315 plus consumables 3 year warrantee 30 ft cable Cost of replacement probe $170 Meter must be shipped to Geotech for probe maintenance. Oakton Waterproof 150/450 Meters Cost: $800-$900 plus consumables 6 month warrantee 25 ft cable Cost of replacement probe $53.75 Probes can be shipped overnight by Geotech and replaced in house. Oakton 50 Series pH Pocket Testers Cost: $185 plus consumables Handheld device

Environmental Field Testing Equipment Chlorine, Ammonia, Surfactants
CHEMetrics K-9400 Cost: $88.07 for kit with 20 tests Ammonia Hach Test Strips Cost: $24.79 (per 25 strips) Chlorine Hach Pocket Colorimeter II Cost: $463 for tests Can be cumbersome in the field Low range test strips are a potential option at $18.45 (per 50 strips). Use of these strips may not be acceptable by EPA; test is subjective and may not always detect low levels of chlorine. The total cost of these three items is approximately: $600 Mention the Hach SL1000. Cost is approximately $3300. PPA Portable Parallel Analyzer – Chlorine and Ammonia (ChemKey) with ports for PH/Temp, Conductivity/Temp Probes (no salinity or surfactants) "A single instrument combines colorimetric and probe testing in a field kit that requires fewer bulky accessories. All chemicals and processes are entirely contained inside the Chemkey. There are no powder pillows or glass vials to handle." $3,265 Real-Time Test Challenge with the SL1000 Portable Parallel Analyzer (PPA)

Opportunities for Assistance from Health Department Staff
Contribution of permanent and/or seasonal staff for field sampling assistance; seasonal staff may be utilized for sample transport to the laboratory Purchase of field instrumentation and consumables at a discounted rate Possible acquisition of volunteer field samplers Calibration of field instrumentation and training of town and/or volunteer staff Development of a regional Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) Laboratory analysis and coordination with towns to maximize efficiency and avoid overload Distribution of historical sanitary survey data Data collection and sharing
