2 Word of the Day Monday discrepancy (noun): a lack of compatibility or similarity between two or more facts Sample sentence: Because of a discrepancy in the witness’ testimony, the defense attorney has asked the judge to drop the charges.

3 Word of the Day Tuesday inevitable (adjective): certain to happen; unavoidable Sample sentence: Since Mary never wears shoes, it was inevitable that she would get a piece of glass in her foot.

4 Word of the Day Wednesday
predate (verb): exist or occur at a date earlier than something Sample sentence: Stone knives predate bows and arrows.

5 Word of the Day Thursday
apprehensive (adjective): anxious or fearful that something bad will happen Sample sentence: With recent cuts, Kate is apprehensive about losing her job.

6 Word of the Day Friday contour (noun): an outline, especially one representing or bounding the shape or form of something Sample sentence: The highway rose and fell with the contour of the land.
