Project Implementation Guiding Principles >Minimise impact to staff, patients and families >Ensure proactive engagement with key stakeholders at affected sites >Maximise usage of boom gates to ensure that patients and visitors are not adversely impacted >Ensure that emergency access and facility support features are maintained >Maintain the flow of traffic around the sites >Ensure that charged staff have access to parking spaces >Review staff security arrangements >Develop a fully integrated system to support flexibility around staff movements across sites

3. >The proposed car parking reforms announced as part of the 2010-11 Budget included the implementation of charged parking at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Modbury Hospital, Repatriation General Hospital, Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre, Glenside Hospital and St Margarets Hospital. >All sites were initially assessed in terms of their respective complexity regarding implementation of revised arrangements. >Specific focus is on those sites where implementation in 2010 - 2011 present the least logistical challenges excluding: Glenside Hospital which is undergoing considerable change with major infrastructure works occurring. The Repatriation General Hospital, due to its dispersed car parks and multiple access points presents unique challenges.

4. >Priority sites have been established as follows: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Modbury Hospital Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre

Current Project Status >Draft implementation strategies have been developed for the priority sites >These will be further refined once a preferred infrastructure supplier has been selected through the procurement tender process >Tender close – end February 2011 >Initial focus of the tender process is on the three lead sites >Refinement of implementation strategies will be completed in consultation with the respective facility management and Regional representatives >Consultation with the relevant councils will commence shortly

Current Project Status (cont.) >Any associated civil works e.g. the creation or widening of entrances and exits to provide lanes of appropriate width will be undertaken as part of implementation >The project team is establishing a new administration group to implement and operate the car park charging arrangements

Current Project Status (cont.) >The administration team will draw upon the experience and knowledge of existing staff who successfully manage the WCH and RAH car parks >Staff will be issued with a permit, with the intention that payment will be via payroll deductions with sacrifice arrangements available

Current Project Status (cont.) >A minimum standard of car park specification will be adopted wherever possible e.g. Car parks will be surfaced Car parking on unsealed areas will no longer be permitted Staff and public parking areas will be segregated (possible shared disabled parking) with designated staff parking areas wherever possible A review has commenced of any measures necessary to improve safety and security e.g. lighting and a standard approach to directional signage and line markings Australian Standards will be applied wherever possible
