Where is Yellowstone? Yellowstone lies in the northern American States, with: - 96% in Wyoming 3% in Montana and 1% in Idaho

In 1872, Yellowstone was established as the worlds first national park. It covers an area of 2.2 million acres.

Yellowstone – A Hot Spot Yellowstone sits on a plateau which was created nearly 640,000 years ago by a full- scale eruption of the Yellowstone Supervolcano.

Yellowstone has more than 10,000 geysers, hot springs and fumaroles. Yellowstone is the largest concentration of hydrothermal features in the world.

Old Faithful One very famous Geyser is Old Faithful. Old Faithful eruptions are predictable to within 10 minutes, erupting every 46 to 92 minutes. Up to 8,000 gallons of scalding hot water shoots upwards. It reaches a height of 106-184 feet

Grand Prismatic Spring Grand Prismatic Spring is a gigantic pool of steaming water. Its the largest hot springs in the United States. Its beautiful colours are produced by many different species of bacteria living in the water.

Yellowstone Lake is the largest high- altitude lake in North America.

Wildlife in Yellowstone There are almost 60 species of mammals in the park, including the gray wolf, lynx, grizzly bears, bison, elk, moose and many more.
