Introduction to Funding
Searching and applying for funding is a necessary but potentially daunting experience We want to help make the progress easier for community groups and organisations to generate the income required to continue addressing the needs within the local community. Hopefully, this will provide a start-point in which to begin the process

Sport England Funding Sport England offer a variety of funding streams; offered both to sports clubs and community groups with a focus to increase participation in sport and physical activity The Main Streams Small Grants – Small-scale projects aimed at increasing participation Strategic Facilities – Sustainability support for long-term participation Community Asset – Supporting the asset transfer of local facilities

Small Grants Open dates: Open with no end date
Funding available: £300-£10,000 Main Focus and Projected Outcomes: Get inactive people to become more active Develop lasting sporting habits Engender more positive attitudes among young people Develop more diverse volunteers Improve progression and inclusion among the most talented Suitable for: Organisations that are not-for-profit, voluntary or community club or organisation Registered Charity Not-for-profit Company Community Interest Company Other social enterprises, schools or statutory bodies are also eligible. Our tip: Ensure of a clear pathway to sustainable participation (I.e. Links to talent pathways

Strategic Facilities Main Focus: Suitable for:
Open dates: Open with no end date Funding available: £250,000-£500,000 Main Focus: The Strategic Facilities Fund is designed to support the sector to invest strategically to deliver the outcomes essential to local communities. Support the initialisation and development of community sport facilities and buildings (For example- renovation of a community building into a dance studio) Suitable for: Sports Clubs and Community Organisations with a focus to build or renovate a facility for sports participation purposes Our tip: Demonstrate the level of need to the community for such projects and how the development of a facility will allow access to local community members

Community Asset Fund Main Focus & Projected Outcomes:
Open dates: Open with no current end date Anticipated size of bids: £1,000-£150,000 Main Focus & Projected Outcomes: Improve and protect existing sports facilities that support the needs of local communities Invest in new and different places that meet the needs of local communities, which include our target audiences Ensure our capital investment reaches organisations who have not accessed our funding before Create a more resilient, sustainable, less grant dependent sport sector (Please note: Football and Cricket-only projects can not be funded through this stream. Sport England support the Football Foundations and English Cricket Board’s specific funding streams to such sports) Suitable for: All organisations Our tip: Opportunity to develop project proposals via this funding – eg. Feasibility studies

Awards for All Open dates: Open with no end date Funding available: £300-£10,000 Main Focus and Projected Outcomes: People have better chances in life – with better access to training and development to improve their life skills. Stronger communities – with more active citizens working together to tackle their problems. Improved rural and urban environments – which communities are better able to access and enjoy. Healthier and more active people and communities Who can apply?: voluntary or community organisation registered charity constituted group or club not-for-profit company community interest company social enterprise school statutory body (including town, parish and community council) Examples of Projects Funded: Heritage Sport Arts Community Health & Wellbeing Advocacy Public Space Development

People’s Health Trust Open dates: Current open until 3rd April at 1pm
Funding available: £5000-£50,000 (various timeframes) People’s Health Trust’s new Active Communities Funding Programme aims to support local people to use their skills and knowledge to make their communities better places in which to grow, live, work and age. Who can apply? Constituted, non-for-profit organisations or groups that supports people to create or shape local projects Examples: Community Social Action Sport for Social-Change Initiatives Training Opportunities

British Cycling The Places to Ride Programme
Amount available: Various (depending on scale and merit of funding request) Deadline: 15th January 2021 Suitable for: New and existing clubs, local authorities, community organisations, educational establishments and charitable organisations Description: The Places to Ride Programme seek to offer financial support for projects that aim to inspire people to cycle, connect the community and build a lasting legacy through cycling facility improvement and development.

The Staffordshire Community Foundation houses and manages a range of opportunities for community investment. These opportunities are specific to geographical location with examples of funding being: Opportunities for partnership tenders are also available through the Staffordshire Community Foundation PFCC Funding The Kingsley Community Fund Breath of Life Community Grants

Environment Support Funding
Environmental Funding Streams focus on specific areas of highlighted environmental concern to support residents in such communities Funding is distributed according to various outcomes and geographical location. Funding Scheme How Much? To Whom? Other For further details… Staffordshire Moorlands Staffordshire Moorlands District Council Sports Grants For Individuals: Up to £500 Talented individuals competing / training at County level or above and living within the District Funding is available to assist local sports people with the expense of coaching fees, competition fees, travelling to training sessions and competitions and essential equipment and clothing. Leisure Services For Sports Clubs: To be considered for funding, clubs must be: Voluntary, not-for-profit and open to all A member of the Biddulph, Cheadle or Leek Sports Advisory Councils Based in the Moorlands, with membership mainly resident in the District. The purpose of club grants includes helping them develop their activities or stage new events. In addition, the council has priority criteria to encourage participation in sport by women and girls, 16 to 24 year olds and people with disabilities. For Coaches: Coaches must be working with clubs in the Moorlands These grants have been created to support coaches in gaining coaching qualifications. Grants for up to 90% of total cost with a maximum of £500 will be considered
