1. Get back what was lost through colonization 2. Regain control of lost lands 3. Compensation for losses 4. Achieve self-determination (aka self-govt/control/decision) Bad 1. Potential loss of rights / title 2. Process is SLOW and EXPENSIVE 3. Disagreement with the process

4 Opposed to the Treaty Process
-Not everyone agrees with the treaty process: 1. Union of BC Indian Chiefs 2. Southern Nations Alliance Both groups are concerned mainly with: -extinguishing Aboriginal title in exchange for treaty rights -cost of treaty process ($ 4 billion spent to date) -the fact that they SHOULD NOT HAVE TO NEGOTIATE for their land – it is already proven that FNs traditionally owned the land
