Objective: : Students will be able to identify a theme and significant textual evidence to support the theme.
Agenda
A.) Do Now: Turn and talk with your tablemates. Captains will prepare to share their tablemates’ answers with the whole class.
B.) Discuss/Share: Captains will share Do Now answers.
C.) Class Discussion/Presentation of Themes: Students will arrange into groups according to similar themes. Each group will create a chart paper and try to prove that they have the BEST theme (with the theme in a bubble) and they will add quotes (a maximum of one sentence per person) and illustrations. They will share their quotes (using sentence starters, such as: This demonstrates.., This emphasizes the fact that…, This suggests...).
D.) Q & A/Reflections: Which group’s theme was the most convincing? How did you come to this determination?
