Much Ado About Nothing Brandon McMonkey Mrs. Nelson 9th Grade Lit. 10/16/08 What is the play about? Who are the characters? When was it written? How many words are in the script? What is the setting of the play?

2 Who are the characters in the play?
The characters are Claudio, Hero, Benedick, and Beatrice. Claudio and Benedick are two young Lords that fall in love with Leonato’s daughter and niece. Lenato’s daughter is Hero, and his niece is Beatrice (“Much Ado About Nothing”).

3 What is the play about? The play is about two lords that fall in love with two women. Claudio and Hero and Benedick and Beatrice. At first the relationship is frost but over time it works out. When Claudio and Hero are to be wed, Don John (a villainous don) plans to ruin their wedding by getting his associate Boraicho to woo Hero. Instead Boraicho woos Hero’s maid, but Claudio does not know this so he denounces Hero on the day of the wedding. Hero faints and gives the impression that she has died. Due to that, Beatrice gets upset and tells Benedick to duel Claudio for revenge. Soon Don John’s plan is exposed by two foolish village constables. In return for Hero’s death, Leonato requests that Claudio marry a cousin of Hero’s. On the wedding day, the woman comes out in a veil and once reviled Claudio sees that it is Hero alive and well. The story ends in a glorious dance (“Much Ado About Nothing Play By Shakespeare”).
