Look professional and well groomed Know the company culture and position you are seeking and dress accordingly Inquire about company dress code

Listen Listen to the information the employer is giving you
Let the person know you heard what was said Match the pace and style that the interviewer has set out

Don’t Talk Too Much Try not to ramble on (look for non verbal cues from interviewer) May talk yourself out of a job Answer questions with a definition, or specific example. You can ask interviewer if you answered appropriately, or if they would like you to expand. Know job requirements, and match your skills to positions requirements

Don’t Be Too Familiar Talk ‘business’
Level of familiarity should mimic interviewer's demeanor Bring energy and enthusiasm Do not overstep your place as a candidate looking for a job

Use Appropriate Language
Avoid slang words Especially with reference to age, race, religion, politics or sexual orientation (hot button topics) Be formal – no swearing! Please and Thank you go a long way

Take Care To Answer the Question
Listen to question carefully – you may ask for them to repeat the question, or ask for clarification if needed. Provide an answer with an example of a time when you did something Interviewer is seeking a sample of your past behavior Talk about transferable skills and Relatable experiences

Ask Questions Be sure to have some sort of question ready to show you are interested in the job Gives you an opportunity to learn more about the position Can ask for additional information about a question they asked you during interview

Don’t Be Cocky Attitude plays a huge role in your success
Fine balance between confidence and arrogance Know who is boss Let them know you are ‘teachable’ and willing to learn and try new things Also don’t be too reserved!

Don’t Appear Too Desperate
Remain Cool, Calm and Confident Desperation can make you appear less confident Make sure interviewer believes you can do the job
