Complications were defined as one or more of the complications available in the CSRS, which included stroke, transmural myocardial infarction, deep sternal wound infection, bleeding requiring reoperation, sepsis or endocarditis, gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation or infarction, renal failure, respiratory failure, and unplanned cardiac operation or interventional procedure.
