1 First Timers & Delegates Briefing
Desirae Kirby District 16 Parliamentarian

2 Parliamentary Procedure
Simply a process to ensure open and equitable debate. The current edition of N.E. Renton, “Guide for Meetings and Organisations”, is our Parliamentary Authority. I would draw everyone’s attention to the Standing Rules in your Conference Book.

3 Remits Please review the “Process for Remits – Guidelines For Delegates” at the front of the Remits section. The majority of remits have been proposed by the District 16 Board, so will be moved and seconded by Board members. In addition to these remits there will be other motions to be seconded and voted on e.g. adopting the Standing Rules, District Officer reports, District Dues, etc.. The Presiding Officer will call for these actions.

4 Remits – Points to Note All motions to be considered, including amendments & alterations must be put in writing and given to the Secretary. Only delegates & elected District Officers may move/amend motions or vote. However anyone may speak to a motion. Please move to the microphones designated for this purpose and wait to be recognised. Please then state your name and Club.
