4 Psalm 149:1 Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones. Hymns Invitation Red Songbook - Supplemental

5 The Reluctant Prophet Prophet – a messenger from God
2Ch 36:15 The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place; 16 but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, until there was no remedy.

6 Moses: The Great Servant
Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later; Hebrews 3:5 "Not so, with My servant Moses, he is faithful in all My household” Numbers 12:7

7 Moses: The Great Servant
Was he so faithful when called? But he said, "Please, Lord, now send the message by whomever You will.“ Then the anger of the LORD burned against Moses Exodus 4:13-14a

8 Moses: The Great Servant
Why was Moses reluctant to serve God? His humility? But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh?” Exodus 3:11 Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth Numbers 12:3

9 Moses: The Great Servant
Why was Moses reluctant to serve God? His speech impediment? Moses said to the LORD, "Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue“ Exodus 4:10

10 Moses: The Great Servant
Why was Moses reluctant to serve God? His age? As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years Psalm 90:10 Moses was eighty years old ….when they spoke to Pharaoh Exodus 7:7

11 Moses: The Great Servant
Why was Moses reluctant to serve God? His past failures? “When (Moses) was approaching the age of forty, it entered his mind to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel….. he supposed that his brethren understood that God was granting them deliverance through him, but they did not understand” Acts 7:23

12 Moses: The Great Servant
Moses had many reasons not to serve God He had ONE reason to serve God Moses had no excuses not to serve God Nothing excused him from service Moses is an example for us today of serving God How did GOD overcome Moses’ reasons?

13 God Equipped Moses God gave him power to overcome timidity "If they will not believe you or heed the witness of the first sign, they may believe the witness of the last sign” Exodus 4:8 Ex. 4 – three signs were given to Moses: His staff, His leperous hand, and turning water to blood

14 God Equipped Moses God gave US power to overcome timidity For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 Ex. 4 – three signs were given to Moses: His staff, His leperous hand, and turning water to blood

15 God Equipped Moses God gave him power to overcome human speech "Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say." Exodus 4:12 God would make moses able to speak

16 God Equipped Moses God gave US power to overcome human speech I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute. Luke 21:15 Through the Scriptures we are equipped with the right things to say

17 God Equipped Moses God gave him a brother for encouragement "Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. And moreover, behold, he is coming out to meet you; when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart” Exodus 4:14 God sent Aaron to aid Moses by being able to do the things Moses could not do

18 God Equipped Moses God gave US brethren for encouragement Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; Romans 12:10 God sent Aaron to aid Moses by being able to do the things Moses could not do

19 The Big Idea God calls us to be His servants We often have reasons why we cannot God has already equipped us to His purposes that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work 2 Timothy 3:17
