Five questions to assess the physics potential at a Super B factory
Definition: Lint = 50/ab in the LHC era (i.e. 2010’s)
3
1 The primary physics goal of a Super B factory is to detect deviations from the standard model (SM) which may arise from new physics (NP). Shouldn't you wait for LHC (ATLAS/CMS) results to make your target clear ? Answer by Marco
4
2 If LHC finds SUSY, can you measure fundamental SUSY parameters, as in the case of present B factories that are measuring fundamental SM parameters ? If you can't, do you think observations of deviations from the SM are enough to justify a Super B factory ? Answer by Amarjit
5
3 There is no guarantee that some deviations from the SM are discovered. If all results are consistent with the CKM picture, will you still be able to gain any knowledge that is essential to understand NP ? Answer by Yasuhiro
6
4 Why is the target luminosity 50/ab ? How is it justified from physics point of view ? Answer by Achille
7
5 Is there any NP that LHC has difficulty to discover while a Super B factory can discover ? What can a Super B factory provide beyond the expected reach of LHCb ? Answer by Tom
