Reminders Have a wonderful spring break! See you on April 1st! Reading Students are reviewing important comprehension skills this week. We went over compare and contrast the theme, setting, and plot of two stories and summarizing a story using somebody, wanted, but, so, then. These are important skills for students to remember throughout the rest of the year. Writing This week we continued our opinion biography writing. First, the students read a biography of Cesar Chavez and thought about the character traits and evidence that was written about him. Then, then the students chose who they would like to write about for their biography piece. Math This week, students continued to practice with different types of measurement. We focused on the mass of an object with grams and kilograms and how to measure liquid volumes with liters and milliliters. Students practiced with one step and multiple step word problems. Social Studies Students have learned about how the railroad changed Illinois. They also learned about how immigrants came to live in our state to find new jobs in the growing cities and how farmers used new inventions Important Dates March 23rd-31st - Spring Break April 9th-15th - IAR testing (new PARCC) April 19th - NO SCHOOL May 6th -3rd grade VIP Day Contact Info If you need to contact me:
