2 Figure 1 The Short Isoform of the Transcription Factor PRDM16 Is Enriched in HSCs Biased toward Lymphoid Production MFN2 is a transcriptional target of the short isoform of PRDM16 in HSCs and is an outer mitochondrial membrane protein recognized as an essential regulator of fusion. MFN2 also has other functions including tethering of mitochondria to the ER, which maintains lymphoid potential HSC function by appropriately buffering calcium levels to prevent aberrant NFAT signaling.
