5 INTERNAL AUDIT – CORE ASSURANCE WORK – 2018 AND 2019
Back-up and Restoration of Critical Systems Policies and Procedures – Back-up and restoration policies and procedures for internally managed processes are well documented and in line with leading practice standard ISO 27001; Technology – The tools used to manage data back-up and restoration (VEEAM) and data replication (VMWare SRM) of ‘Tier 1’ systems achieved close to 100% success rates for the samples selected for the period under audit. These tools have improved operation efficiencies and productivity, as well as increased reliability and quality of back-ups. ICT Team – ICT team members and management were experienced and appropriately informed of their roles and responsibilities. Field Trip (Compliance) Audit JCUA complied, in all material respects, with the requirements set in the JCUA HSE-PRO-007 Field Trip Procedure, during the period from 01/01/ /05/2018. However, there is significant room to improve the control design of the Procedure and the Field Trip Module system data field and report customisation. A better coordinated control review approach involving all key stakeholders focusing on effective communication, front end training and support, and clear identification of responsibilities for training and departure and whereabouts monitoring is warranted. Two findings of High risk rating: Risk assessment and compliance monitoring. Itinerary and whereabouts management.

6 COLLEGE ON A PEDESTAL – PROFESSOR LEE STEWART – COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE SCIENCES
eight Disciplines; 2500 students; 135 full time equivalent staff who worked across campuses and sites in Townsville, Cairns, Mackay, Mount Isa, Singapore and external; the Allied Health Rural Generalist Program; the World International Collaborating Conference on nursing, midwifery and sustainability in Cairns; the proposed Sport Conditioning Centre which would work closely with the North Queensland Cowboys on sport and conditioning; course developments linked with Industry and community partnerships: continuing major curriculum redevelopment activities; expansion of clinic/placement operations; expanded rural placement opportunities; expansion of industry partnerships; and continued implementation of highly structured quality assurance processes

the five overall evaluation questions and findings; 2018 response rates benchmarked against other universities. In the case of JCU only 11% of surveys were statistically reliable and 50.8% were not included as there were five or less respondents; there was student and staff disengagement with such surveys; the cost/benefit of YourJCU surveys, noting that overall, the low percentage of statistically reliable survey outputs meant the return on investment was poor given the effort and investment put into obtaining them; and the recommendation for the establishment of a working group to review the relevance of the YourJCU data and survey process with a view to making the data and processes relevant and cost effective. Outcome The Board acknowledged the comments of Professor Bull that these were issues for all universities and agreed to establish a working group coordinated by Student Services with invitations to Board members to participate.

extensive work completed in the amalgamation of a number of policies and the provision of associated procedures. amendments to programs and the large volume of course changes circulated through the Divisional Board of Studies and on to Curriculum Information Management Section; accreditation; and revision of the awarding of Academic Medals.

9 AMENDMENTS TO HIGHER DEGREE BY RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS POLICY
Intent of the changes To reinforce JCU’s commitment to providing a safe, respectful environment in which HDR Candidates and Supervisors can study, research, work, live and socialise. 3.1.8 Candidates must at all times abide by the Student Code of Conduct, the Bullying, Discrimination, Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Policy and the Principles for Respectful Supervisory Relationships developed by Universities Australia. These policies and principles articulate the professional relationship between Candidates and Supervisors, the potential for conflicts of interest, and make clear that sexual or romantic relationships are never appropriate and must be declared immediately in order that alternative supervisory arrangements can be put in place..

Resolution: that the following academic course reviews undertaken in 2018 as endorsed by the Academic Course Review Committee, be approved; - Graduate Diploma of Psychology – Renewal with no conditions but continue to monitor the implementation of the new course structure; - Master of Professional Accounting – Renewal with recommended (formative) changes and follow- up by College Dean; - Tertiary Access Course – Renewal with no conditions; - Bachelor of Speech Pathology – Renewal with required (summative) changes including a plan and follow-up by the College Dean; - Bachelor of Marine Science – Renewal with recommended (formative) changes; - Master of International Tourism – Renewal with recommended (formative) changes; - Master of Education and Graduate Certificate of Education – Renewal with required (summative) changes including a plan; - Master of Guidance & Counselling - Renewal with required (summative) changes including a plan; and - Graduate Certificate of Career Development - Renewal with required (summative) changes including a plan.
