1 How to find a prognostic biomarker for progressive diabetic nephropathy

2 Figure 1 Haptoglobin mRNA levels in microdissected glomeruli and tubulointerstitium from subjects with diabetic nephropathy compared with those from living transplant donors. Haptoglobin levels were 2.4-fold higher in the subjects with diabetic nephropathy (DN) than in controls (*P <0.04). Levels in the tubulointerstitium were not statistically different, though there were several diabetic subjects with substantially higher haptoglobin levels than in the controls. Nephromine was used for analysis and visualization. Nephromine, an online database of all published and some unpublished genome-wide expression data from human kidney studies, is freely available to all academic investigators ( Compendia Bioscience, Ann Arbor, MI) and is supported by the National Institutes of Health O’Brien Kidney Research Core Center at the University of Michigan.
