The DEFINITION of light. God is light 1 John 1:5: “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

4 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
The DEFINITION of light. Jesus is light John 8:12: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

5 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
The DEFINITION of light. Light is parallel with truth Psalm 43:3: “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.”

6 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
The DEFINITION of light. God’s Word provides light Psalm 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:130: “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”

7 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
The DEFINITION of light. Light keeps company with “understanding” and “wisdom.” Daniel 5:14: “I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.”

8 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
The DEFINITION of light. Anything not in harmony with God’s Word is not “light.” Isaiah 8:20: “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

9 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
The DEFINITION of light. Conclusion: God is the source of light and He give us light (information, knowledge) through His Word and Spirit. Anything not in harmony with God’s Word is not light..

10 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
B. A DESCRIPTION of those who walk in the light. People who walk in the light are called “children of the light.” Ephesians 5:8: “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.”

11 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
B. A DESCRIPTION of those who walk in the light. The world receives light by seeing the good works of Christians. Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

12 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
B. A DESCRIPTION of those who walk in the light. A person who walks in the light has spiritual protection. Romans 13:12: “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.”

13 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
B. A DESCRIPTION of those who walk in the light. A person who walks in the light does not enjoy communion with darkness. 2 Corinthians 6:14: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

14 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
C. Our DUTY to walk in the light. It’s God's standard for our lives Walking in the light is a choice we must make. Isaiah 2:5: “O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.”

15 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
C. Our DUTY to walk in the light. We acquire more light only when we walk in the light we have received. Psalm 36:9: “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.”

16 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
C. Our DUTY to walk in the light. A Christian comes to the light and wants more light. John 3:20: “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” John 3:21: “But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”

17 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
C. Our DUTY to walk in the light. Failure to walk in the light brings darkness and loss of spiritual understanding. Luke 11:35: “Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.” John 12:35: “Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.”

18 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
C. Our DUTY to walk in the light. With the loss of spiritual understanding comes confusion and a change of your thinking! Isaiah 5:20: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

19 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
C. Our DUTY to walk in the light. The devil seeks to blind people to the truth. 2 Corinthians 4:4: “In whom the god of this world [Satan] hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God should shine unto them.”

20 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
C. Our DUTY to walk in the light. The devil will try to give you “false” light. 2 Corinthians 11:14: “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”

21 The Condition to be fulfilled “if we walk the light”
C. Our DUTY to walk in the light. You can rebel against the light Job 24:13: “They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.”

22 II. The COMMUNION to be found “fellowship one with another”
There is no fellowship unless we walk in the light. The fellowship offered is described in 1 John 1:3: “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”

23 II. The COMMUNION to be found “fellowship one with another”
Fellowship with God necessitates walking in the light! 1 John 1:6: “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.”

24 III. The CLEANSING that follows “the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin”
The POWER for cleansing sin from all sin is “the blood of Jesus Christ.” It is a PRESENT and continuous cleansing from all sin (keeps on cleansing). It is a PERFECT cleansing from all sin!

25 Review I. The Condition to be fulfilled – “if we walk in the light”
II. The Communion to be found – “fellowship with one another” III. The Cleansing that follows – “the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

26 Conclusion God is light and He gives us light (information, knowledge) through His Word and Spirit. As we receive light and obey it, we receive more light. If we fail to receive it and obey it, light becomes darkness (we lose the knowledge) and we change our thinking.
