A Dream deferred by Langston hughes
What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up Like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore--And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode?

Are they universal symbols or do they arise from the context of this poem? 2. What is the theme (the central idea) of this poem? Can you state it in a single sentence? 3. What heavily connotative words are used? What words have unusual or special meanings? Are any words or phrases repeated? If so, why? 4. Bonus Points (5 points)-Give one example of the poetry elements we have discussed (simile, metaphor, personification, symbolism, etc) Must give specific reasons and citations for your example
