1 English /3/14 Why read books? How do you feel about reading books? How did dracula come to america? Ergasiophobia – fear of work. Goals – Refresh our memory of TKAM by doing Ch. 9 question and discussion of the transition chapter. Sharing favorite parts. Figuring out vocabulary. Homework – Read chapter 19 in TKAM. Read the parts of the chapter that have to do with the “n- word.” Why should we not use it? Don’t forget to study for the vocabulary 20 on Friday. He took a blood vessel.

2 English /4/14 Write about a principle that you can defend no matter what others think. Explain why. What did Mrs. Bullet say to Mr. Bullet? Formication – A feeling that ants are crawling all over one’s skin. Goals – Discuss the ch. 9,10,11,12 from TKAM, Author’s purpose. Homework – Read and annotate chapter 20 in TKAM. We’re going to have a beebee.

3 English /5/14 What do you know about Atticus? Do you think he is a good father? Why or why not? How do sheep in Mexico say Merry Christmas? Bezonian – A mean, low person. Goals – Discuss favorite images from the book. Is there some message or meaning in them? Examine the character of Atticus use text based evidence. Homework – Read and annotate chapter 21 in TKAM. Write a well thought out analysis of Atticus’s character; use text based evidence. Fleece Navidad.

4 English 10 – 2/6/14 Why does Atticus force Jem to read to Miss Dubose? What does Miss Dubose gain from it? What does Jem gain from it? Don’t take life so seriously; nobody gets out alive. Anhedonia – an inability to be happy. Goals – Work on chapters 11 and 12. Write responses to the essay prompts for those two chapters. Homework – Read and annotate chapter 22 in TKAM. Respond to this question: One conclusion that can be drawn from Chapter 13 is that Atticus does not agree with his sister. Provide two details from the text to support this conclusion.
