Results from student crossword test improved after taking the course

Conclusions -crosswords were useful to evaluate students -students seemed to prefer classical lab practicals -peer learning should not be a substitute but can be used in conjunction with other techniques -student grades and knowledge retention seem to be better just after the practicals and lower on the final exam
