How Will the Amount Of Algae Squares Affect the Growth In 40 Days?
By: Ted Peetz, Soorya Namboodiri, Bailey Walton and Michael Costelloe
2
How was the Experiment Conducted?
Preliminary planting and setting up was done. The algae squares were taken away from the Experimental group. Observations and data of the plants were taken over 30 days. The plants were then pollinated with bee sticks. Then the pods and seeds were counted and recorded.
3
Controlled Variables The Type of Light (40 watt cool Fluorescent light bulbs) Type of soil (wet) Number of Seeds (3) Number of fertilizer pellets (3) Amount of Light (24 hours) Amount of Days (40) Kind of Plants (WFP) How close the plant is to the light (5-10 cm)
4
Height of Plants The EX group started off fast and then slowed down at the end. The CO group started out slow and then went up and then slowed down.

Number of Seeds in Each Cell

Possible Sources of Error
Different color light bulbs affecting growth of plants. Incorrect measurements Temperature Algae squares did not have enough time to affect plants. Age of seeds The different color light bulbs could have affected the growth of the plants. This is because if one set of plants got more forceful amount of light then the other, they would probably grow more Some of the measurements made during the experiment may have been incorrect. This might have happened because.somebody could have mad e mistake when they were writing the data down. Also they could have misinterpreted what the group was saying. The temperature would have varied inside of the room so the plants would not always have room temperature. The algae squares might not have enough time to grow in the 40 days that were given because the wasn’t enough time to grow. Therefor the squares are almost useless. The age of the seed might have a factor in the growth of the plants because the seed would expire and again be useless for the experiment.
8
Conclusions The Algae squares did not make a huge difference in the height of the plant. The control group had more pods than the experimental group did. The control group also had more seeds than the experimental.
9
Recommendations to Improve the Experiment
Make sure all of the materials are brand new. All the of the controlled variables have to be controlled.
