2. Term 2 Overview
Menu Project: Individual research and final project about topic within the umbrella of oppression, protest, or civil rights.
Purpose: Opportunity to do best work or improve a skill within a topic of your choice. Practice in self-advocacy, time management, research skills, metacognition, and the academic skills of your choice.
Overarching purpose: Sets up Second Semester history and literature discussions, as well as self guided portfolio project.

3. Honors Track 3 term track Includes work done so far in Humanities:
Are you a leader in the class?
Are you doing your best work?
Have you been rewriting papers, asking for help after you’ve thought about the directions, helping other students when they’re struggling?
Are you participating in book discussions?
Use worktime in class to it’s fullest (do not treat H2 as a social time in class to do homework outside of class)?

4. Honors Track
Find a problem you can work toward solving and do your absolute best to reach that goal.
Problem finding and solving are two of the most important skills you can develop
Your age and education level does not limit you, it can be an even be an advantage

5. How we learn Basic model:
Passion: what do you care about? Why do you care about it? How can we build upon that prior knowledge and interest into a purpose?
Purpose: Now what are you going to do with what you care about? What are you going to make? How do you leave your mark? What is your goal?
The skills you need to achieve those goals are interconnected and take time to develop.

6. Honors Track
Humanities gives us time to work toward those goals and develop the skills needed to reach them. These include but are not limited to:
Problem finding, problem solving, writing, research, communication, leadership, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, citizenship, inquiry, construct and deconstruct arguments, determine quality of work, understand past, present, and future events, understand sustainability of different systems, global awareness, systems thinking

7. Honors Track Passion and Purpose are steps two and three.
The first step is Play.
Take time to find and learn about a topic and area of study you might want to engage in
Artifact Boxes: Are simply an example of play. For history we are on time crunch with curriculum, so it’s forced play.
Let’s develop “artifact boxes” for our potential areas of play

8. Artifact Boxes
Each student will create a folder and give access for “anyone with DCSD to edit”
Give your folder a title that represents your area of interest
Fill the title with provocative resources designed to inspire interest
If you find resources different than yours, but might fit into someone else’s folder, put it in there
I’m looking for quick consumption resources: video clips, pictures, political cartoons, short but high quality articles, past work, website links, etc.
