Extended the power of the Franks in all directions

7. Pepin the Short Son of “The Hammer”
He wrote the Pope to see his thoughts on who should be king
First person to ever be anointed king by the Pope. This gave him spiritual power as well as political power.
Helped the Pope chase the Lombards out of Rome. New alliance between the two.
His son is going to be an awesome ruler.
