Akraino Vision Statement
Under the auspices of The Linux Foundation, The Akraino Edge Stack project is creating an open source software stack that supports high- availability cloud services optimized for edge computing systems and applications, running in virtual machines or containers. Designed to improve the state of edge cloud infrastructure for enterprise edge, OTT edge, carrier edge and networks, Akraino Edge Stack will offer users new levels of flexibility to scale edge cloud services quickly, to maximize the applications or subscribers supported on each server, and to help ensure the reliability of systems that must be up at all times.

Promote – based on Business potential, Use cases, Blue prints, Release plans Market segments Telco - Tier I, II, III adoption Focus on 5G (VNF /CNF’s), IoT, other edge cloud use cases – AR/VR, …. Enterprise segments – SD WAN Technology segments – Networking, cloud native, IoT Grow Developer & end user’s communities Work with adjacent groups like ONAP, OPNFV, ODL, Edge X, Kubernetes, Openstack…..

ONS NA – April 3-6, 2019, San Jose ONS Europe – September, 2019 – Antwerp Internet of Things World, Santa Clara – May 13-16, 12,500 plus attendees, IoT Tech Expo, North America (Nov ), London (April 25-26), Amsterdam (June ) MWC – (February) Bring Akraino messages in MWC! IoT Solution World Congress in Barcelona – (Oct ) a good general IoT Event. Hannover Messe - (April 1-5) but this more manufacturing focused (EdgeX presence) Container event - Kubecon – USA (Nov ), Europe (May 20-23) , China (June ). Try to participate at least one Kubecon GNTC – (November) China Speaking opportunities & CFP process – all events

TSC F2F meeting – Dec 6 and 7 Discussion mainly about Release 1, planned – date? Reviewed the blueprint proposals and approved 21 blueprints overall. There are 8 blueprint families. R1 Release – How many? Target segments – Telco, Enterprise, and IoT Lab – Community need to be established by Feb, 2019, Some vendors planned to bring certain HW for their blue prints. Presented a draft of 2019 marketing plan to sync up our activities Project work will start 3rd week of January.
