8 BUSINESS ENGLISH 1: COURSE SPECIFICATIONS
COURSE TITLE: BUSINESS ENGLISH 1 TARGET GROUP: 1st year – PROFESSIONAL STUDIES PROFICIENCY LEVEL:  Intermediate (CEFR B1) NUMBER OF ECTS CREDITS: 3 TOTAL NUMBER OF CLASSES: 30 DURATION: 1 October 2018 – 25 January 2019 (15 weekes) TIME and LOCATION: Wednesday Commerce – 11am-11.50am (room 11) Accounting – 12pm-12.50pm (room 5) Important note: lectures are incorporated in exercises (additional lessons upon agreement with the prof.)

9 OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
increase the knowledge of key business concepts while learning English preparing students for a career in business and effective communication in international business environment pre-preparation for international business English exams such as BEC and BULATS BY THE END OF THE COURSE STUDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO: read and understand business-related texts and pieces of academic writing listen to and understand business conversations speak and discuss opinions fluently write different formats of business letters

13 STUDENTS’ OBLIGATIONS
LITERATURE MATERIALS - starting 17 October 2018 – MUST HAVE EVERY SESSION!!!! - BUSINESS ENGLISH COURSE BOOK – first 4 lessons (faculty library or in the bookstore e.g. Nova / online bookshop – NEW or SECOND HAND) - PRACTICE FILE & TEXTBANK – first 4 lessons (online) ATTENDANCE: minimum 70% of the total number of session (or minimum 5 times prior to each of the 2 preliminary exams) Ss who come 100% are given extra points (excellent for participation) EXAM – online (on loomen) 1st prelim – end of November (will be specified later) – Ss who pass are elligible for  2nd prelim – end of January (will be specified later) FINAL EXAM – February – 2 exam periods ONLINE EXAM REGISTRATION OBLIGATORY!!!
