A clever metaphor as the Soviets concealed their intentions from their former allies. Churchill had stated “Nobody knows what Soviet Russia and its Communist international organization intends to do…” Churchillncalls fornimmediate action! The former Prime Minister extolled the United States of America. Like the great Frenchman, Jean Jacques Rosseau, Churchill argued that “primacy in power is also joined an awe-inspiring accountability to the future.” In the interest of world peace, the United States could not isolate itself like it had after the First World War. Churchill called for “fraternal association” between the British Empire and the United States of America. Is another war on the horizon? Churchill seemed convinced if left unchecked Soviet aggressive tendencies would result in yet another war. Citizens throughout the world are being repressed as they do not have free elections, freedom of expression, or fair judicial processes. Countries such as Albania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and East Germany are suffering under Soviet control.
