2 The Wellness Concept Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence. Process means that improvement is always possible. Aware means that we are continuously seeking more information about how we can improve. Choices means that we consider a variety of options and select those in our best interest. Success is determined by each individual to be their collection of life accomplishments.

4 Dimensions of Social Wellness
Social Wellness is engaging in social activities that encourages positive relationships and good communication skills within the community . Examples: A person may have interactions with the community, but still remain selfish. A person who is isolated is 3x more likely to be susceptible to diseases or illnesses. A person who has a strong social network can create a good mood and enhance self-esteem.

5 Being Social Involves creating positive relationships with others.
Touching, stroking, and hugging can improve overall health. Laughter is good medicine. Being social is closely intertwined with your emotions, physical fitness, and mentality.

6 How to Achieve Social Wellness
Practice self disclosure Get to know your personal needs and pursue them Contact and make an effort to speak with family and friends who are supportive in your life Join a club or organization

Community Positive Interactions Enjoy Being with Others Develop/Build Friendships Care for Others Your Self Know Your Needs Connect with Others Make an effort to talk to others Join Clubs/Volunteer

The following conditions of the body are positively affected by being socially well: Increases -Immunoglobulin A -Positive Emotions Decreases -Stress & Depression -Cholesterol
