6 So, what does the ASD do anyway? Mission To support student members of AOTA by communicating their interests and advancing their professional contributions. This Assembly upholds the AOTA mission, promotes Association membership, and provides a forum for the development of student leadership and political awareness to enhance the viability of the profession.

16 2011 Student Conclave Led the Opening Ceremony at AOTA/NBCOT Student Conclave in Providence, RI Helped coordinate New Practitioners Panel Unveiled Student Centennial Commitment With Chris Bluhm and Beth Ledford Organized opportunities for Student Networking and socialization at Conclave Managed various Conclave events, and created opportunities for further engagement, such as: C.O.O.L Join Stations Dinner outings Informal gathering with Amy Lamb (AOTPAC Chair, AOTA VP-Elect) and Tim Nanof

18 MH SIS/ASD Collaboration Problem: OT representation in the mental health practice area is decreasing Many practitioners would like to see this number increase and hypothesized strategies of altering OT education, OT fieldwork, etc (per OT Connections) to increase OTs role in MH Therefore, to find out more the 2011 ASD and MH SIS is teamed up to determine students experiences in terms of mental health fieldwork and coursework through a survey based on the Mental Health Specialized Knowledge and Skills paper (2010). ASD supplied 3 delegates with interest in MH who are working the the MH SIS chair to create and distribute survey Results to be presented as a SIS roundtable discussion for AOTA 2012!

21 AOTF Gala Representing the Assembly of Student Delegates in the Dancing With the Stars competition What is the AOTF Gala? evening of fabulous food, fun, and fundraising as dancers compete for bragging rights in AOTFs 2nd Annual Dancing with the Stars competition. Network with friends, indulge your taste buds in mouth- watering Philly-style delicacies, and enjoy the ambiance of the dance entertainment. Cast your vote for your favorite dancers and bid on unique Silent Auction items to raise funds in support of AOTF. You wont want to miss the excitement as our contestants put on their dancin shoes and dance the night away at this years extravaganza!
