1 Activity Introduction
In this activity you will be participating in a 1920’s “Meet & Greet”. You will take on the role of a famous person during this era to teach important information about yourself to the people you meet. You will also be responsible for meeting and learning about different celebrities during the party.

2 Directions: 1920’s “Meet & Greet”
STEP 1: You have been assigned a celebrity from the 1920’s. You were given a biography about your assigned celebrity. This is the celebrity you will represent during the “Meet & Greet”. STEP 2: Come up with at least one prop or costume to impersonate your celebrity during the party. The prop or costume should help other students identify which celebrity you represent. STEP 3: Your guests will refer to the handout: 1920’s Meet & Greet: Critical Thinking Questions. You will have this handout as a reference point for your conversation. STEP 4: When the music begins playing, all guests will mingle with each other.

STEP 5: When you hear the music stop (about every 10 minutes), immediately have a seat at where you are and help your guests complete the Critical Thinking Questions related to the topics you have discussed. When the music begins to play again, get up and continue to mingle with new people. STEP 6: You, along with your guests, will need to meet with all celebrities representing each group: consumerism, movies & radio, sports, transportation, woman’s rights, literature & arts, music and Prohibition.

You may want to consider using some of the fun slang words from the 1920’s to make your presentations more fun and engaging: Cats meow: anything wonderful Bees knees: a superb person or thing Big Cheese: an important person Cake-eater: a ladies man Flat tire: a dull, boring person Horsefeathers: nonsense Hebbie-jeebies: The jitters Keen: attractive
