The education demand for jobs in Kansas in 2020 will be:
By the year 2020, 71 percent of the jobs in Kansas will require some level of postsecondary education. The education demand for jobs in Kansas in 2020 will be: Master’s Degree: 11% Bachelor’s Degree: 25% Associate’s Degree/Certification: 35% High School Diploma or Less: 29% Source: Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce

Understanding nSC Basic Reports
Each graduating class (In this example, the Class of 2010 is displayed) will have a chart following the students who graduated high school within 4 years and follows the student through his/her postsecondary experience. This data does not include information for: Students NSC is unable to match due to data discrepancies. Approximately 3% of institutions do not report data to NSC. Students that have exercised their right to opt out of reporting (FERPA)

Understanding National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) Basic Reports
Offer insight into what graduates are doing postsecondary. List type of institution student is enrolled (2-yr, 4-yr, in-state, out-of-state, public, priv…) When students enroll 1st semester after high school graduation Any time during the first year following high school graduation Any time during the first two years following high school graduation Persistence Completed a degree An example of one of the Basic Reports showing the percentage of students enrolling in all, 4-year and 2-year postsecondary institutions.

What can we learn from our graduates? What indicators/predictors of postsecondary success can be utilized throughout the K-12 experience? What barriers can be removed? Opportunities created? Are students college and career ready? % of graduates not completing postsecondary Where are students enrolling? What do we know about the institutions students enroll in? Requirements? ACT? Curriculum? Where are the highly qualified students enrolling? What partnerships can be established between district and high enrollment IHEs? KSDE Postsecondary Progress Report Is the graduation rate reflective of our best efforts? % graduates enrolling/earning postsecondary % of cohort enrolling/earning postsecondary What districts are similar? Different? Why? What has been the trend over the past years? What happens to 7th and 8th graders who are not making gains? What is known of 9th grade college aspirations versus 12th grade and eventual college enrollment? How can we support the successful transition from high school to postsecondary? What opportunities exist for students to have postsecondary type learning experiences?
