I used to think neighbor meant someone that your close to. I thought for the longest time and over time I started to understand that everyone in this world is my neighbor and I need to care about my neighbors and that is what we all need to understand is that we should care for everyone on this earth because God wanted us to care for others.

As a community we all have trouble understand what other people are going through or the situation they are going through. As humans we can’t just assume things but we need to understand. Sometimes we assume that homeless did something in life that ruined it.

Some challenges my neighbor may face is being in a tough situation that they can’t control or fix. They also may be in a debt crisis are having trouble finding a job Sometimes are neighbor may face is being criticized for their position in life.

4. How Do I Encounter My Neighbor?

I encounter my neighbor by helping people each day and doing good deeds. I also encounter my neighbor everyday by going outside and seeing people around me. We encounter our neighbors even just by going to the store or just going outside. God wants us to see our neighbors and be social and loving.

We can help our neighbors by trying to understand them. We can also help other by giving them food or water because God would do that.

We made care bags.

What they did when they were poor
The topic our class chose was to go to Sebastian place. The reason we went was to go see the formally homeless veteran's was to make care bags for the homeless and what they did when they were poor. Since the formally homeless veteran's knew how it was like to be homeless they wanted to help the homeless that are on the street today.

Catholic Charities help pay for necessities

The Catholic Church’s view on homelessness is that it should not be something to look forward to and to try and prevent homelessness anyway possible.
The services offered by Catholic Charities include low cost food, housing programs, finding jobs, rent help, and financial help.

How the church responds to homeless veterans
What I discovered about Missionary discipleship is that we learned how to be leaders, and how to be caring and loving people in this world. We spent our own time helping these former homeless veterans making care bags for the homeless. We went to Sebastian place to get a face to face conversation with these formally homeless veterans. After this field trip I learned how to be a better person, I learned how to be a better person by being more garateful. I used to take stuff for granted but now that we went on this field I do not do that anymore, I am so grateful now. I will always remember this field trip because it is the most memorable one.
The church responds to formally homeless veterans they Partnered with Snohomish County and the Veterans Administration, CCS will provide supportive services to the residents, with a focus on long-term stability. Also they put in so much effort so that the veterans have a comfortable room. The room contains a bedroom, bathroom, living area with a kitchen. The complex also includes a central community building, with a larger kitchen and meeting areas for meet-ups. They also have 350 square-foot room will include two chairs, a three-shelf bookshelf and a bedbug-resistant bed. Sebastian Place was blessed with generous donors offering welcome basket supplies for the new residents. CCS is doing something great, as missionary disciples we need to do the same.

Catholic Community Service CCS and Catholic Housing Service CHS are the official human service of the Catholic Church in Western Washington, under the leadership of Archbishop J. Peter Sartain and Boards of Trustees, staff and volunteers. CCS and CHS provide supportive services to the residents at Sabastian Place, with a focus on long-term stability such as homes, food, water and etc. Why I think this is discipleship is because they are interacting with the homeless and hearing their stories.

Before the field trip, Sebastian’s Place sent 3 representatives to our school. We then planed out what we would do when we went to Sebastian’s Place, and what to put in the care bags.
On November 14th, 2018 our classroom went to Sebastian’s Place in Lynwood; we played games such as “2 Truths and a Lie” to get to know the Residents. Then we got into groups and decorated care bags that we would give to the homeless. Next we filled the Care Bags with items that we had previously been chosen. Then we had lunch and shared stories. After that, we played a game called “Apples To Apples” to have more fun with the Residents. Then we said our goodbyes and went back to our school.
