The Soviets built the Berlin Wall in 1961 to keep people in East Berlin from fleeing a communist government. Germany

Vietnam and Korea The Soviet Union took Korea and Vietnam after WWII. They made both communist and threatened to take over the south!

Korean War Korea was divided into 2 parts. To reunite them, North Koreans invaded the South with Soviet help. The U.S. sent troops to help the South Koreans. They created a border called the 38th parallel that still splits the country.

CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS Fidel Castro, the leader of Cuba, became friends with the Soviet Union.

This made the United States NERVOUS about nuclear annihilation! CUBA

President JFK resolved the matter peacefully and the US was not attacked.
