Reading – Skill Quiz – Main Idea/Context Clues Friday
We will read more related books to our Hurricane Unit. Students will read informational texts to learn about hurricanes and their impact on Louisiana. This week we will read a variety of informational texts.
Skills: Text Structures, Main Idea/Supporting details review, & Context Clues/Vocabulary ELA is from our Unit 1 Guidebook. Please make sure the book is returned to school each day.

Math – Fluency Quiz (mult.- 9s & 12s) – Fri; Test – Friday
Unit 1: Place Value, Rounding, and Algorithms for Addition & Subtraction:
Students took a test on addition today (Monday). Our focus will be on subtraction this week. Students will be assessed on their ability to fluently subtract numbers, as well as their ability to solve multi-step word problems using subtraction. Students will take a test on subtraction on Friday.
***Fluency quiz average has been added into our online grading system. This average CAN CHANGE. It will be updated at the end of the 9 weeks grading period. Remember, fluency quizzes are given weekly . Fact sheets are in the math sleeve of the binder.

Students must wear uniforms for Picture Day. Yearbook pictures will be taken.

Science – Test – Thursday
Unit 2: Earth’s Processes: Students will continue to explore processes that change Earth’s surface. This week’s test will assess student understanding of concepts explored in class. There is no official study guide. Please review notebook & handouts nightly.
Social Studies - Test - Friday
Unit 2: The Movement of People: A Historical Perspective
This unit focuses on understanding the historical significance of key people and events in order to understand the expansion of boundaries and development of the United States. This week, we will focus on analyzing primary and secondary sources related to early exploration.
