22 Red Sea Rule #4: Pray!

23 You desire and do not have. You do not have because you do not ask
You desire and do not have... You do not have because you do not ask (James 4:2)

24 You desire and do not have. You do not have because you do not ask

25 What God wants to do on earth, He will do through intercessors
What God wants to do on earth, He will do through intercessors. Prayer releases the will of God, bringing His will out of the spiritual realm and causing it to take effect in the material realm. Prayer opens the way for God to do what He longs to do. When God wants to change the course events will take on their own, He calls out an intercessor ( Jennifer Kennedy Dean )

26 Not a ‘prayer life’… but a life of prayer!
Pray constantly. (1st Thessalonians 5:17) Not a ‘prayer life’… but a life of prayer!

27 Prayer will work as God intends for it to work when it becomes what God intends for it to be. Prayer is not an activity, but a relationship. Prayer is not a formula, but a life. Only when we have learned how to live prayer, breath prayer, be prayer – only then will the power available through prayer be consistently manifested on the earth. God has ordained that prayer will be the conduit through which His intervening, earth-changing power flows from heaven to earth. Prayer is what sets God’s will in motion on the earth. ( Jennifer Kennedy Dean )

28 I wait for You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God. (Psalm 38:15)

29 I wait for You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God. (Psalm 38:15)

30 I wait for You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God. (Psalm 38:15)

31 At our first entrance into the school of waiting upon God, the heart is chiefly set upon the blessings which we wait for. God graciously uses our need and desire for help to educate us for something higher than we were thinking of. We were seeking gifts; He, the Giver, longs to give Himself and to satisfy the soul with His goodness ( Andrew Murray )

32 Father, I confess that I have set my heart on an outcome rather than on You. Right now, in the power of Your indwelling life, I transfer my hope and expectation to You. The heart of my prayer is “More of You”. I ask You to work in my everyday life in whatever way will bring me more of You.

37 Red Sea questions: 1. What keeps us from praying?
2. How would our daily lives, and the outcomes of Red Sea situations, be different if prayer was our first priority, not our last resort? 3. The author makes the point that, though they prayed, the Israelites didn't believe God would answer. He advocates that 'unless we plead in faith, our prayers can do more harm than good' (based on James 5:15). What does it mean to pray in faith? 4. What are one or two practical steps you can take, starting immediately, to implement a stronger set of prayer habits?
