Productivity skills are the most broadly recognized Microsoft skills on the market. These skills help learners to become more productive students overall and can also lead to employability and college credit. Microsoft’s Computer Science courses are meant to introduce students to the most widely used languages and concepts in the field, and most importantly, in a fun interactive environment. Many of the courses prepare students for Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) industry certifications. Data Science skills are quickly becoming the most sought-after skills in the 21st century’s hybrid job market. The Data Science path is designed primarily for higher education or for secondary schools with advanced Computer Science programs. This path takes the use of Excel to its most advanced applications to analyze information. This will most certainly lead to employability for students. IT Infrastructure includes Information Technology concepts including cloud, clients, devices, databases. All of these courses prepare students for relevant industry certification. © 2014 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Many of the courses prepare students for Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) industry certifications. Examples of the Imagine Academy CS offerings include: The Micro:bit course is a 14-week Introduction to Computer Science course targeted to middle school grades 6-8 (ages years). It is also written for teachers who may not have a Computer Science background, or who may be teaching an “Intro to Computer Science” course for the first time. My Minecraft Journey is an introductory course for anyone wanting to learn how to use Minecraft: Education Edition. The course includes ten lessons that walk you through how to get started using Minecraft: Education Edition in the classroom. This comprehensive course is perfect for anyone ready to start using Minecraft: Education Edition in their classroom. MakeCode for Minecraft is a semester-long course targeted at middle school grades 6-8, as an introduction to Computer Science. The course is written for teachers who may have never taught computer science before. During this course, students will explore concepts in computer science through Microsoft MakeCode and Minecraft. MakeCode Arcade is an exciting new year-long course in development that will include four units. Units 1 & 2 introduce students to a sprite-based game environment that will support Block-based coding. Units 3 & 4 will cover programming with JavaScript and map toward the MTA JavaScript exam. Technopreneurship: This Problem-based learning experience turns the classroom into a startup accelerator in which student teams identify a real problem they can solve using web/mobile technology. Techno has been aligned with CSTA and ISTE standards The Introduction to Developing Websites with HTML and CSS course maps to MTA Exam and can be experienced as a self-paced series of modules, a semester-long curriculum for a course on web development, or as a series of lessons and activities for an after school or lunchtime club. There is enough content in this course to cover lessons for an entire 14-week semester, or approximately 100 hours of instruction and hands-on experience with HTML/CSS. You don’t need any previous web development experience to teach it or take it. All you need is a browser, a text editor, and a willingness to explore and try things out! The course introduces learners to the basics of HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), the languages used to craft websites. Introduction to Python (mapped to CSTA standards) uses Jupyter Notebooks, hosted in Azure. Jupyter Notebooks on Azure requires only a browser and an internet connection, removing many barriers of software development framework installations. HTML 5 Application Development Fundamentals course is designed to prove HTML5 client application development skills that will run on today's touch-enabled devices (PCs, tablets, and phones). Software Development fundamentals course covers core software development skills such as core programming, object-oriented programming, general software development, web apps, desktop apps and databases. The HTML & CSS and Java courses are in development and will be available soon. Both will map toward corresponding MTA exams.
