4 Items of Concern Inappropriate Language School Wear Electronic Equipment Tardies

Inappropriate Language Students who use inappropriate language directed at any adult staff member will be suspended. Second offense of this nature will result in two days of suspension, a third offense will result in three days of suspension. Students who use inappropriate language directed at fellow students whether in dialogue or anger will be assigned one hour of after school detention. Second offense will result in two hours of after school detention. The third offense will result in suspension from school. Parent / guardian contact for each offense Counselor to schedule post suspension counseling upon completion of suspension.

School Wear Students will comply with the adopted School Wear Policy. Students shall wear an approved School Wear shirt on all school days. (WHS or Menehune incorporated into design) Students are not to alter, turn inside out, tie, or twist their school wear shirts. School wear must be worn, not carried in a backpack, slung over the shoulder or worn as a necklace. There is no excuse.

School Wear cont….. No shirt, No EXCUSE! Your shirt is your ticket to school. Teachers have the authority to check for school wear under sweatshirts / jackets. 1 st offense – parent / guardian contacted, shirt to be procured for wear and one hour of after school detention. 2 nd offense – parent / guardian contacted, shirt to be procured for wear and two hours of after school detention. 3 rd offense – parent / guardian contacted for Suspension from school Counselor to schedule post suspension counseling.

Electronic Equipment MP3 Players, Play Station Portables, IPOD and any other electronic devices including cell phones will be automatically confiscated if used during class time. Parent / guardian contact. Item may be picked up in the office once student has completed 1 hour of after school detention. If the item is confiscated for a second time, your parent / guardian will be asked to pick it up upon your completion of two hours of after school detention. A third time will result in parent / guardian contact for a suspension. Counselors to schedule post suspension counseling. Teachers have the authority to enforce this policy even if used while going to the bathroom, counselors. etc…

Punctuality Students are expected to arrive to school on time – First bell rings at 7:45 and the tardy bell rings at 7:50. Remember the passing periods are just five minutes long. Students are expected to be on time for all other classes during the day.

Tardies Student to be sent to the office for a tardy slip, parent/ guardian contacted and student assigned one hour of after school detention. Second offense, student to be sent to the office for a tardy slip, parent / guardian contacted and student assigned two hours of after school detention. Third offense, student to be sent to the office, parent / guardian contacted for student suspension. Discipline will be progressive. Counselor to schedule post suspension counseling.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT Regular Attendance students are expected to attend school regularly and attend all classes Punctuality students are expected to be on time for school and classes Work Habits students are expected to be prepared for and to participate in each class

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT (cont.) Respect for Self and Others Students are expected to be honest, behave with dignity and treat others with respect and courtesy. Respect for Authority Students are expected to obey all school rules and state laws.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT (cont.) Respect for Property Students are expected to be responsible and care for our buildings, equipment, and textbooks. Students are expected to treat all property belonging to the school and others with care. Freedom from fear Students are expected to contribute to a safe school environment free from fear. Acts of violence, weapons, and contraband are never acceptable.

Summary Behave as a young adult. Treat others as you want to be treated. The floor is now open for questions.
