3. What are Presidential Scholarships
The UMass President’s Office Scholarships have been established by donors of the University system for the purpose of providing support to needy, deserving and/or outstanding students within all of the five UMass campuses

4. Eligibility Requirements
The criteria for applying and receiving the President’s Office Scholarships vary, but most scholarships require:
A demonstration of personal achievement
Financial need
College coursework
Established UMass Lowell cumulative G.P.A.
All of the President’s Office Scholarships require:
An application
Written essay
Incoming students may apply to some of these scholarships and require:
Strong academic achievement in high school
Established need

5. Scholarship Application
Scholarship applications are available in January and due in March
Applications are posted to the Financial Aid website
Students chosen as recipients will be notified by beginning of June

6. Thank You Letters
Students are required to write a thank you letter to the donor or the scholarship selection committee listed on their letter from the Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships
Students are sent a guide to writing a thank you letter and information can be found at
Letters must contain a handwritten signature. The letters can be mailed, ed or faxed
Letters must be sent to Cynthia Puleo in the Advancement Office. Advancement will forward the letters to the UMass Presidents Office
Advancement notifies Financial Aid of receipt of thank you letters so that Financial Aid can completed Merit Thank You checklist on iSiS
