CODE & NAME : PDT106 Engineering Graphics UNITS : 3 CONTACT HOURS : 10 hours (Lecture), 84 hours (Lab) GROUPS : 1 group COURSE OUTCOME : 1. Ability to apply the basic drafting, sketching engineering components and common term used in engineering drawing. 2. Ability to apply orthographic, auxiliary, sectional, and isometric view in engineering drawing. 3. Ability to apply and analyse geometric, dimensioning, and tolerancing (GDT) in engineering drawing. 4. Ability to apply detail and assembly drawing in engineering drawing.

WEEKLY TEACHING PLAN & ACTIVITY: StudyWeek Course Content WEEK 1 (5/9/2016 – 9/9/2016) LAB 1 : Introduction to basic Engineering Drawings DEFINE, DESCRIBE, EXPLAIN and APPLY the objectives and importance of engineering drawing, sketching technique, technical drawing tools, drafting standards, title block and texts, measurement and scales, drawing out difference types of standard sketches, lettering and numbers, and laying out drawing sheet and boundary lines. WEEK 2 (12/9/2016 – 16/9/2016) LAB 2 : Geometric Construction in Engineering Drawing DEFINE, DESCRIBE, and APPLY method of drawing line in difference type and angle, drawing in simple geometrical shape, drawing lines and arcs tangent to each other, dividing a line and space into equal part and dividing an angle in half. WEEK 3 (19/9/2016 – 23/9/2016) WEEK 4 (26/9/2016 – 30/9/2016) LAB 3 : Multiview Projection in Engineering Drawing DEFINE, DESCRIBE, and APPLY the orthographic projection, first angle projection, third angle projection and isometric projection. WEEK 5 (3/10/2016 – 7/10/2016) LAB 4 : Technical Sketching in Engineering Drawing DEFINE, DESCRIBE, and APPLY the isometric and oblique sketching, and standard practices. WEEK 6 (10/10/2016 – 14/10/2016) LAB 5: Sectional view in Engineering Drawing DEFINE, DESCRIBE, and APPLY the Cross-sectioned views and symbols, cutting plane or sectioned plane. APPLY and ILLUSTRATE types of cross-sectioned views-half sectioned and full sectioned views. WEEK 7 (17/10/2016 – 21/10/2016) LAB 6: Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) DESCRIBE and APPLY the dimensioning notations, dimensioning theory, dimensioning location systems, universal dimensioning standard, and calculating tolerance. WEEK 10 (7/11/2016 – 11/11/2016) LAB 8 : Geometric Construction in CAD EXPLAIN and APPLY the coordinates system, drawing and editing command, and dimensioning in AutoCAD. WEEK 11 (14/11/2016 – 18/11/2016) LAB 9: Basic 3D Construction (CAD) DESCRIBE, EXPLAIN and APPLY 3D coordinate systems, user coordinates system, using the solids toolbar, using the view toolbar, using view point, creating solid models with extrude and revolve, extruding a shape, using Boolean operations, creating solid models revolution. WEEK 12 (21/11/2016 – 25/11/2016) LAB 10: Multiview Projection in CAD DESCRIBE, and APPLY how to convert a solid model (3D) to a multiview drawing using solview and soldraw. WEEK 13 (28/11/2016 – 2/12/2016) LAB 11: Sectional view in CAD DEFINE, DESCRIBE, and APPLY the Cross-sectioned views and symbols, cutting plane or sectioned plane. APPLY and ILLUSTRATE types of cross-sectioned views-half sectioned and full sectioned views.
