Duke Heart Center Nursing Research Growing Evidence For Practice Technology and Data Based Decisions Clinical Policies & Procedures SUMMARY PURPOSE Smoking Cessation Heart Center nurses are integrally involved in using research in practice Duke patients benefit from participating in state of the science research that directly impacts their care Duke University Hospital is a major teaching hospital, directly linked to the School of Nursing and School of Medicine through joint and clinical appointments. Our hospital mission is patient care, research and education. Nurses have chosen to work at Duke because of an environment where teaching and research activities are an integral part of practice. We hold legal responsibility for our practice and are professionally accountable for improving our practice through evidence-based initiatives, thereby contributing to new practice knowledge. By using and conducting clinical research we have an opportunity to achieve excellence in patient care and to improve clinical outcomes for the patients whom we serve. Nursing as a Profession: A Qualitative Analysis of High School Student Perceptions EBP Intervention Study Does a campaign to increase awareness of existing clinical evidence for adult cardiovascular patient care improve staff knowledge of available, appropriate guidelines? Team PI: Linda Latour, RN What demographic and physiologic characteristics are associated with 3 different levels of care provided for patients at the end of life?
