Training for Cluster Verifiers

Faith Award Prayer Lord Jesus, You ask those who believe in You to give your Good News to others. We pray that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, our words, actions and prayers will help other people to hear of You, to believe in you and to find the joy of knowing You. Amen

Move to Local Verification – Why?
Award is very successful – over 5,000 pupils registered in this phase Can take account of local context, holidays, etc. More efficient for school management in release of staff, etc. Cuts down on travel time Allows teachers some ownership of the Award

Role of Cluster Verifier
Attend SCES Verification Training Meeting Jan/Feb Arrange and co-ordinate verification events for their cluster Feb/March Return necessary documentation to SCES by end of March All work and documentation should be off your desk by Easter break

Cluster Verificiation Process
Contact your schools and arrange a suitable time/venue for your verification event Ask each co-ordinator to put together the necessary paperwork from their school to bring to the meeting: 6 examples of pupil work “Verification of School Assessment” sheet “Steps for Verification of School Assessments” Hold verification event Complete “Confirmation of Cluster Verification” sheet and return to SCES Each school completes and returns its own “PFFA Assessment Results Sheet”

Verification Event – What Happens?
Submit examples of assessed pupil work, accompanied by Verification of School Assessment sheets with relevant sections completed Swap samples Take time to cross-mark and compare standards Share good practice Complete relevant sections of Verification of School Assessment sheets (each school keeps their own sheet for later submission to SCES) Cluster Verifier completes Confirmation of Cluster Verification Sheet and returns sheet to SCES, with note of any anomalies
