Paint Chip Poem Subject: inspired by the paint chip
A paint chip poem is a free verse poem written on a paint chip and is inspired by the color gradient. Every line of the poem must begin with (Color) is, and each gradient should be inspired by what that color reminds you of. Identity Poem Hobby Poem
An Identity poem is a free verse poem about a person’s identity in which you compare 2 kinds of people using an extended metaphor. Use the poem Identity in springboard as a template and exchange the weeds and flowers metaphor for your own. The poem MUST follow the format of Identity in Springboard Example: Dogs vs cats: extroverts vs introverts Use imagery to create an effect. Subject: 2 kinds of people A Hobby poem is a free verse poem about a pastime you are passionate about. Must include: Jargon, language specific to a group of people, to show your passion for your hobby. Imagery to enable the reader to visualize your passion. Remember: You want the reader to like what you like by seeing how passionate you are. Subject: Your hobby or passion (one)

Hyperbolic Poem A Hyperbolic poem is a free verse poem that includes hyperbolic statements and allusions. These statements are often extravagant and not meant to be taken literally. These statements are used to create a strong impression and add emphasis. This poem must include: Hyperboles and allusions (10 of each at least) Positive images of yourself like Ego Tripping Love for yourself like Kanye loves Kanye Subject: Your awesomeness

Ode Subject: An object, person, or event you wish to celebrate
An ode is a lyric poem expressing feelings or thoughts of a speaker, often celebrating a person, event, or thing. It is a poem of honor, honoring a person or object. Make sure to describe your object and show veneration for it. An ode is free verse. An example might be: Ode to my glasses, Ode to a golden snitch, Ode to dragon eggs Must include: Adverbs and adjectives that show respect and honor within your poem. I should be able to circle at least 10 Repetition or a refrain for effect Figurative language Vivid verbs Subject: An object, person, or event you wish to celebrate

Found Poem A Found poem is a type of poem created by taking words, phrases, and sometimes whole passages from other sources and reframing them by making changes in spacing and lines, or by adding or deleting text, thus imparting new meaning. You will create a poem using the page from a book that I give you. Your poem must include: Clear, careful, squares or circles around the words of your poem. A picture drawn on your poem that represents what you “wrote”. The poem must be easily read, top to bottom left to right. Subject: Whatever inspires you on the page

Sonnet A sonnet is a fixed form of poetry with 14 lines consisting of three quatrains and a couplet, and is written in iambic pentameter. Your poem must include: Rhyming, following the rhyme scheme of ABAB CDCD EFEF GG Figurative language Subject: Love

Shape Poem A Shape Poem is a type of poem that describes an object and is shaped the same as the object the poem is describing. It is a free verse poem. You must include: A poem in the shape of the object you are writing about. The poem must be read normally, top to bottom and left to right. May be handwritten or typed Subject: Whatever you want

Reminders: All poems should be a page long.
Pay attention to which poems may rhyme, may not rhyme, and HAVE to rhyme. Include punctuation purposefully. Include a picture and title for each. Poems with specific titles: Paint chip: (color) is….. Ode: Ode to ______ Sonnet: Sonnet to _____
