1 Adapting to the DESY Motion System
Victor Guarino P.E. Victor Guarino P.E. Mechanical Support Group High Energy Physics - ANL

2 Requirements SC OSS has to have a mass and inertia that matches the specifications of the DESY motion system. (Details in Stefan’s talk) Possible to shorten the tower if needed. Elevation Axis position relative to tower is fixed. Moment about elevation axis has to be zero. Achieved by CW structure Tie to CW structure can be used to stiffen SC OSS Victor Guarino HEP-ANL

3 DESY Positioner MRI is based on using the DESY system.
Is this positioner ideal for the SC? Probably not but using it is a low cost way of getting a working SC telescope to demonstrate this technology. All OSS concepts have to be evaluated for performance and adaptability to DESY system. Victor Guarino HEP-ANL

4 Near Term Work for This Year
PTDR Evaluation of OSS Concepts Perform initial structural analysis and PSF performance Develop fabrication plan Structural analysis of OSS on DESY tower – calculate natural frequency and performance under all loading conditions. Integrate mirror support structure into OSS design Victor Guarino HEP-ANL
