1 Book Talk Template Delete this slide before you turn it in.
Delete any instructions that are given on each slide. Add an image of the cover of your book on the title slide. Add some color and change the design of the slides, but make sure your audience can read it. When you submit, you should have between slides total! Questions? Ask me for help!

4 Book Summary Summarize your book in 3-4 sentences. Be clear and concise. Don’t spoil anything!

5 Protagonist/Main Character
Describe your main character. What is he/she fighting against? Does he/she have anyone helping them? What are their most important traits? Do they have any special talents or gifts?

6 Antagonist Who is working against the protagonist?
Describe the person, group of people, nature, etc.

7 Setting(s) Time Place If setting changes as the stories goes on, talk about this. Include one image.

8 Text Connections Tell about two connections you made with the story (text-to-self, text- to-text/media, or text-to-world). Explain how your connections helped you understand the story better. Connection #1 Connection #2

9 Important Vocabulary List 4 words that were crucial for understanding key parts in the story. Make sure to include the sentence, page number, definition, and importance for each word. Here’s an example: Phylacteries Sentence: “I quickly unwound my phylacteries and ran to the window. Hungarian police had entered the ghetto and were yelling in the street nearby” (16). Defined: a small leather box containing Hebrew texts on vellum, worn by Jewish men at morning prayer as a reminder to keep the law. Importance: The fact that Eliezer wears this around his next shows the reader that he is deeply religious Design Suggestion – give each word its own slide so as not to overcrowd with information

10 Investigate Pick one aspect of the novel to include outside information. Include 3- 4 bullet points with concise information. If you pull information from online sources, make sure to hyperlink or cite the source. Here are some ideas: The geography, weather, culture, or history of the books setting Information about the author – his/her life and other works Information about the time period portrayed in the novel Pictures, objects, or materials that illustrate elements of the book The history and words or names used in the book Music that reflects the book or its time

11 Theme What is the theme or themes in the novel? How does the author show this idea? Comment on how this theme fits in the novel and how it applies to life outside the book. What does this theme mean to you?

12 Lesson What did you all learn from this novel?
In answering this, you may comment on any aspect of the novel including how it is written.

13 Twitter Book Review Write a review for your book in 280 characters or less. *I will be posting these to our classroom Twitter that I am making. 
