1 Welcome. We are so glad to have the opportunity to tell you all about LifeSmarts—The Ultimate Consumer Challenge.

2 What is LifeSmarts? - LifeSmarts is a competitive program and educational tool available for students in 6th-12th grade. LifeSmarts covers: Personal Finance, Consumer Rights & Responsibilities, Technology, Health & Safety and the Environment. If you are looking for ways to engage and motivate students in the area of consumer and financial literacy, LifeSmarts can help.

3 Competition runs September – April
This program follows the academic year with competition running from September to April. State Competition February 2016 National Championship April 2016 Denver, Colorado LifeSmarts tracks with the school year and culminates each year with the National Championship. This year the Championship takes place in sunny California.

4 LifeSmarts Student teams begin competition online. The highest-scoring online teams are invited to a live state competition. State competition winners are invited to attend the national LifeSmarts championship. LifeSmarts--The Ultimate Consumer Challenge is a fast, fun, competition opportunity that prepares today’s middle and high school teens to be tomorrow’s informed, responsible citizens, consumers and employees.

6 Remember, We Tackle the Tough Issues
LifeSmarts goes in-depth on issues teens face Consumer Rights Environment Health & Safety Technology Finance LifeSmarts teaches real-world information and know-how for using limited resources wisely. Topics covered in the program are key to family and community quality of life. The LifeSmarts topics include: financial literacy, health and safety, consumer rights and responsibilities, technology and the environment. The focus of the LifeSmarts program is how consumer issues and consumer literacy can help young adults make informed decisions in these areas, as well as understand the marketplace.

Citizenship & Leadership Consumer Literacy Problem Solving Teamwork Critical thinking Our comprehensive curriculum reinforces academic themes with rigorous competition and extensive content. We meet the needs of FCCLA Advisers by infusing 21st Century Skills and a wide range of Family and Consumer Science topics. Students gain skills in interpersonal communications, team-building, critical and creative thinking, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

9 LifeSmarts is Open 24/7/365 LifeSmarts U lessons include:
Activities, worksheets, and lesson plans Slide presentation with notes Pre- and post-tests And more  Each lesson also includes: an article, FAQs, fast facts, resources, an online game, glossary terms, and practice questions. Lessons are designed so that students may use portions independently, then come back together with their instructor to round out each topic.
