KS3 PERFORMANCE SKILLS BEING A GOOD PERFORMER At many times in the year (for example Christmas) the music department is focussed on developing pieces for performance and band skills. As part of this students will be learning in groups how to prepare a piece for showcase. Through this you can improve your group work skills, listening, focus and instrumental ability. PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES: Practice with determination. Surround yourself with a good team. Be organised (have you got everything you need to rehearse?) Be encouraging of each other. Be open to criticism. Don’t be scared of mistakes. Believe in yourself Preparation leads to a good performance. In class performance Monday MAP Projects Christmas Concert Winter Pantomime CAN’s Got Talent Heathcote Care Home Trip Earlham Primary Trip Assemblies End of Term Assemblies Easter Showcase Summer Show KEYWORDS Stage presence, confidence, accuracy, timing, rhythm, listening, tempo and pulse ASSESSMENT In this unit you will be assessed on your ability to prepare a piece for performance and on your willingness to demonstrate this to your class. Your work will be both Peer and Teacher assessed using the terms - Beginner, Improver, Skilled and Expert. Techniques Equipment Theme Keywords Assessment Key resources and youtube links . . . HOW TO REHEARSE: Preparation - Make sure you have everything you need. Equipment, worksheets etc. Small Chunks - Break the piece down into smaller manageable chunks that you then put together Targets - Have a clear idea of what you want to achieve this session. Slowly - Start slowly then speed up as you get more confident. Listen - Listen to your piece in between so you know it inside out.
