Mission: The Jackson Cluster will graduate students who are productive, caring, and lifelong learners. School Priorities Signature Program: None SMART Goals Cultivate a literate community in which students read and write with clarity and fluency across the curriculum. Goal 1 a. By the end of the school year, we will increase the number of students in proficient and distinguished on the GMAS by 5%. Goal 1b. By the end of the school year, we will increase the number of Kindergarten students scoring at the Probable Reader level, first grade students scoring at the Transitional Reader level, and second grade students scoring at proficient. Implementation of school-wide writing plan Targeted Professional Development: 1. Modeling in classroom from Instructional Coaches & District’s Content Specialists 2. Classroom observations and side-by-side coaching 3. Targeted Professional Development with next steps 4. Fast Feedback 5. Peer observation and feedback 6. Implementation of Guided Reading (GR) 1. PD will be specified based on the trends in the building. 2. Teachers will receive specific action steps to implement in their classroom. 3. Teachers will implement the guided reading strategy and will receive regular observations to support growth. 4.Student achievement will be evident. 2. Goal 1 a. By the end of the school year, we will increase the number of students in proficient and distinguished on the GMAS by 5%. Goal 1b. By the end of the school year, we will increase the number of K/1 students scoring 80 out of 100 in Early Numeracy and second grade students scoring proficient or above on the STAR assessment Barriers School Strategies Strategic Impact 1. Surface level PD for mathematics. 2. Lack of understanding how to teach mathematics conceptually. 3. How to use manipulatives to support conceptual understanding 4. Lack of understanding of how to have students discuss math effectively 1. Modeling in classroom from Instructional Coaches & District’s Content Specialists 2. Targeted Professional Development centered around how to effectively use manipulatives in the classroom and effective student discussions. 3. Fast Feedback 1. Professional development will be targeted to specific groups of teachers based on observation data. 2.Teachers will receive specific action steps to implement in their classroom. 3.Teachers will allow students to use a variety of math manipulatives during instruction. 4.Teachers will act as a facilitator of discussion, using prompting questions to guide students’ thinking. 5.Student achievement will be evident.
