Graduation Requirements
2.5 Cumulative un-weighted GPA. Passing score on the Florida Standards Assessment in English/Language Arts Passing score on the Algebra I EOC. Successful completion of a least 24 credits and all required courses Satisfactory class attendance: no more than ten unexcused (10) absences in an annual course or five (5) in a semester course Completion of a community service project of at least 150 hours Completion of one online course (FLVS) iMed, PT, Pharm: Completion of at least 85 executive internship hours One online course In process of mailing home letters for students missing requirements. Miami-Dade County Public School policy does not allow students to participate in the May/June graduation ceremony if they do not meet these requirements.

Selecting a College or University
There are over 3,000 colleges and universities in the United States. Keep the following in mind… → Location (Close to home or far away?) → Size (Under 3,000 students or over 30,000) → Private or Public Institutions → Programs of Study Offered → Athletic & Extracurricular Activities Available → Cost (Do not exclude any choice due to high cost…expensive schools may be able to offer more aid.)

MAST @ Homestead COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURES 2018-2019
Meet with your counselor, Ms. Pickarski. Talk to instructors, family, friends, etc. about different colleges. Sign-up for admissions representative visits, field trips, and college fairs. Take or apply to take the SAT I and/or ACT exams; determine if you need to take the SAT II exams. Fee waiver available if on free or reduced lunch. Request information/applications from colleges. Put yourself on their mailing list. Look in our new CAP Office for college pamphlets or online on each school’s website. Obtain teacher recommendations (academics/counselor) and provide teachers with addressed and stamped envelopes or invite them to submit their letters online. Do this very EARLY. Utilize the College Portfolio Project that was completed last year in English.

COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURES (Cont’d)
Each school will need a copy of the student’s high school transcript. You can request your transcripts to be sent from Ms. Yee, our registrar. How to Request High School Transcripts: I. State Public Universities/Colleges 1. Fill out transcript request form and give to our school registrar, Mrs. Yee. (Form can be found in Room ) 2. Allow about a week for them to be printed and sealed. 3. Pick-up transcripts in bin in Room 105 and mail them out to each school that you apply to. II. Common App Schools Go to Commonapp.org and invite your counselor to electronically provide your transcripts, recommendations, and school profile by including her name and address when prompted.

VERY IMPORTANT: It is your responsibility to check your status on each schools’ website to verify that all documents have been received and processed by each institution.

There are two types of financial aid:
State Financial Aid (Merit & Need Based) Florida Financial Aid Application must be completed during student’s Senior year only. Application is not available until after December 1. All Seniors apply for state financial aid at school with the CAP Advisor (me) after December 1. Federal Financial Aid (Need Based) FAFSA must be completed during student’s Senior year only. Application is not available until after October 1. Students must apply with their parents since it is need based and questions will be asked about income/taxes in 2017.

Financial Aid State and Federal Financial Aid comes in several forms:
Grants Scholarship Loans Work-Study Programs Institutional Scholarships: Scholarship money awarded to students based on their merits by the institution that they are applying to. Usually, students must apply by the priority deadline for the school and must adhere to that deadline to be considered for a scholarship. Private Scholarships: Check your daily for private scholarships and the Scholarship bulletin monthly for scholarships that you may be eligible for and apply by the deadline!!

All students are in 2 clubs (Class & HOSA) Athletic forms were due to the Activities office by Sept. 28th They need 150 hours of community service to graduate Students with 500 hrs. will receive a silver cord / 1000 hrs. Will receive a gold cord for graduation Community service hours should be turned into the Activities Office. All documents needed are on our website Parking decals are $6 on OSP. Extracurricular participation requirements Must have a photo ID….NO EXCEPTIONS (Any after school activity) Must follow dress code for each event Field day - MUST wear a MAST Class T-shirt - No more than 20 tardies - No more than 10 Absences - No more than 3 uniform infractions - No more than 3 ID infractions. - Must have the 150 hr. min. of community service turned in Prom - All Senior Obligations must be paid prior to ticket purchase Saber Activities Info: See Ms. Molina in the Activities Office Join Remind: to 81010
