The door; left unlocked, then seen slightly open; just a crack

Coraline crept; door is locked
Inside joke; Tea leaves; It might help. They’re good for bad things, sometimes.

4. Chapter 3
Shopping trip; drop off dad at the railway station to go to London
Coraline asks her mom about the empty flat; her mother goes grocery shopping
Flipped through a book her mother was reading; pointless ritual
Acquires key; enters another world through a regular door and dark hallway
Meets other parents; eats a delicious meal
Meets the rats, they sing familiar song (dramatic irony); meets other old man
Other parents watch her walk to other actresses; CREEPY

5. Chapter 4 Coraline has a conversation with the cat
Cat is super haughty towards Coraline; glad you brought protection- Cat
Security dog: Another one
A show for ever and always; see you soon- Chocolate eating dog

Fingers closed around the stone=mother’s hand scuttles away
Coraline returns home

6. Chapter 5 Coraline’s parents are gone
Coraline eats and visits the actresses; Coraline’s Story; Bath; Bed; Cry
Sees parents in mirror; calls the cops, who of course do not believe her
Coraline gears up: dressing gown, slippers, candle, apples, stone
Coraline tells the cat what she believes bravery is
The other mother shows Coraline the image of her parents happy without her; Coraline knows it isn’t true after some second guessing
Mother puts the only key in her apron pocket;
A challenge; Coraline falls asleep in her other mother’s bedroom
